Smith Wesson Volunteer XV Pro M LOK Lead

The new M&P 15 Volunteer XV Pro M-LOK is built on a mid-length gas system with a 16-inch threaded barrel and chambered in 6mm ARC to make it a high-speed deer hunter made in the USA.

The stock is a B5 Systems SOPMOD, and the grip is a B5 P-Grip. A 15-inch aluminum S&W M-LOK fore-end includes a 2-inch rail section and M-LOK rail covers. Sights front and rear are Williams Gun Sight Tactical folding units, but a riflescope is right at home on the flat-top.

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued?
