CVA has announced the arrival of its new Optima V2 LR muzzleloader, the newest addition to the company’s line of mid-level muzzleloading rifles. The Optima V2 LR’s additional two inches of barrel length combined with a thumbhole stock allow for increased stability, making it ideal for longer-range shooting—hence the “LR” in the new muzzleloader’s name.

Available with either a 28-inch Nitride-treated stainless steel barrel or a standard stainless steel barrel, the Optima V2 LR sports the same trigger guard with actuated breeching lever, internal parts and neutral center-of-gravity trigger as CVA’s top-of-the-line Accura VR LR. Covered in a Realtree Xtra finish, the Optima V2 LR’s thumbhole stock is 100 percent ambidextrous, and features CVA’s CrushZone recoil pad. Like all of CVA’s muzzleloaders, the Optima V2 LR includes the company’s DuraSight Dead-On one-piece scope mount, solid aluminum PalmSaver Ramrod and a reversible hammer spur.

“The Optima V2 LR is essentially a more affordable version of our Accura V2 LR, which after its introduction two years ago, became our number one selling Accura model,” said CVA brand manager Dudley McGarity. “We expect the Optima V2 LR to have similar appeal, as today’s shooters are looking for more long-range capability from their muzzleloaders.”

The Optima V2 LR has an MSRP of $371-$412. For more information, go to cva.com.

#SundayGunday: Benelli Lupo HPR

This week on #SundayGunday, we test-fire the Lupo HPR, a bolt-action rifle from Benelli with a host of proprietary, high-performance features that drop it in the gap between long-range competition rig and custom hunting rig. We like this gun, not least because it shoots well. The fact is its lines, its ergonomics … everything about this rifle begs a hunter looking for something special to pick it up and carry it afield. Learn more about it in this exclusive video.
