undefinedAt the SCI Show I can catch up with manufacturers, writers, photographers and PR/advertising folks I couldn't spend enough time with at the SHOT Show — or missed altogether because of the hustle and bustle. Whether it's at this show or SHOT, I'm sure to spend several hours with key writers and photographers hammering out details of coverage, deadlines … all the important behind-the-scenes stuff it takes to create the magazines NRA members read every month. What's more, here, gunmakers aren't so interested in taking orders from gun shops and distributors as spending quality time with individual buyers — the kind that swing big sticks within their circles of influence. Thus I can pop into booths and say hello to sales-and-marketing people and thank them for their business and interview them about new products. Wednesday afternoon, I spent about an hour doing just that with Dwight Van Brunt, Kimber Manufacturing's vice president of marketing. I spent the time getting answers about the company's Mountain Ascent bolt-action rifle. You can see the results in a feature story that will appear soon in American Rifleman.
