ARMALITE will introduce the SPR Mod 1, a forged, one-piece upper receiver/rail system with exclusive detachable side and bottom rails. With other one-piece systems, you’re stuck forever with the rails you get at purchase, and stuck with their limits. The SPR Mod 1’s three o’clock, six o’clock, and nine o’clock rails are detachable. That’s right, you can change your 1913 rails to fit your changing needs for sights, lights, lasers and grip swivels. Each SPR Mod 1 comes with three extra rails standard, at no extra cost; a 1913 rail with a quick-detach sling swivel hole, a low insert for when you need a bare rail with a low profile, and a plain insert with a quick detach sling swivel hole. Changing rails on the SPR Mod 1 is as easy as turning an Allen wrench. Its one-piece construction offers you a continuous optics platform (COP). There’s no gap to bridge between receiver and upper rail when you’re installing your scope or sights. Giving the sighting platform extra rigidity. The SPR comes standard a chrome-lined, chrome-moly vanadium steel 1:7 "barrel and a two-stage tactical trigger. www.armalite.com
ARSENAL, INC. is offering a 500-unit, limited production run of AK-74 rifles to commemorate both Mikhail Kalashnikov’s 90th birthday and the 35th year of AK-74 production. Four hundred Silver Edition and 100 Gold Edition rifles will be manufactured. Each boasts a high-gloss finish on all metal parts, engravings signifying the anniversaries celebrated and the Izhmash factory logo. Included with the Gold Edition is a certificate of authenticity signed by Lt. Gen. Kalashnikov. www.arsenalinc.com
BARRETT MFG. will offer its flagship Model 82A1 semi-automatic rifle in the company’s proprietary .416 Barrett cartridge, which produces a muzzle velocity of 3200 fps. with a 395-gr. projectile from its 32” barrel. The rifle includes a new muzzle brake design, a chrome-lined barrel and a 10-round magazine that has been modified to feed the shorter .416 cartridge. Also new is a compact variant of the Model 98B bolt-action in .338 Lapua Magnum (April 2009, p. 44) with a 20” barrel. www.barrett.net
BLASER will release a new straight-pull bolt action rifle this year. The Blaser R8 has a number of refinements including a detachable magazine. The R8’s magazine is unique in that it can be locked into the receiver for situations, such as dangerous-game hunting, where a detachable magazine could be a hazard. Safety features have not been overlooked, the bolt assembly has greater locking surface area, and the gun decocks when the magazine is removed from the rifle, so the rifle is uncocked during unloading. The R8 is made for rapid target acquisition and fast follow-up shooting. It has a palm swell and distinct cast off of the grip, and the magazine is positioned right above the trigger. This puts the weight of the rifle between the hands and aids instinctive shooting. www.blaser-usa.com

GAMO’s new pre-charged-pneumatic (PCP) DynaMax Multishot pellet gun is topped with a GHM 3-9X 50 mm RGB Dot scope from BSA Optics. Unlike the company’s break-action air rifles, the Multishot uses a reservoir of compressed air to propel the pellets at 1200 f.p.s. for the .177-cal. version and 1000 f.p.s. for the .22-cal. version. The mechanism is fed by a 10-shot removable repeating rotary system, allied to a spring-loaded, press-to-load feature that can cycle shots at a rate of one-per-second. An air reservoir holds enough compressed air for 30-40 shots before needing to be refilled, either by an air tank or with a hand pump. Free-floated, hammer-forged barrels, together with the nature of the PCP system, provide less recoil and greater accuracy compared with the company’s break-action pellet rifles. Both the .177-cal. and .22-cal. rifles weigh 8 lbs., 12 ozs., with scopes and measure 38 ¼” in length. QD studs on the synthetic fore-end and buttstock come standard. The RGB scope has an adjustable red, green or blue illuminated center dot with duplex crosshairs. www.gamousa.com
