YHEC is many things. Here is a small taste of what the Youth Hunter Education Challenge has to offer.

In 1985, we launched a program to facilitate friendly competition among youths 18 and younger that would advance hunting skills including wildlife identification, orienteering and rifle, shotgun and archery marksmanship. Today, thousands of hunter education volunteers and parents still conduct this program at the state and local level to produce safer, more skillful and more ardent American hunters.

The 2017 National Rifle Association Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) National Championship is scheduled for July 23-28, 2017, at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico.

Since its inception, YHEC has helped 1.3 million youngsters to gain that hands-on experience, and they’re better hunters for it.

The new SA-22 Challenge was designed for those seeking superior precision in a rimfire rifle, featuring a threaded 16¼-inch fixed matte blued bull barrel, a Grade I American walnut stock with a raised comb and a fitted Picatinny scope base.

Wayne LaPierre accepted the ice bucket challenge and has now passed the challenge along to Karl Malone, NASCAR driver Austin Dillon and Lt. Col. Oliver North.

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., has pledged to donate $2 to the National Rifle Association for each new Ruger firearm sold between the 2015 and 2016 NRA Annual Meetings. The company has its sights set on reaching a goal of $4 million in donations, all of which are to benefit the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA).

The grounds of the 33,000-acre NRA Whittington Center exploded during the last week in July when more than 250 youths and their adult coaches and parents traveled from all parts of the country to participate in the 2015 International Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC), held in Raton, N.M.
