Remember when we heard 2015 Black Friday gun sales set another record? That’s just the tip of the iceberg as it concerns gun-buying trends headed into 2016.

Anecdotal evidence suggests many hunters and gun owners are receiving Facebook ‘friend’ requests from people they don’t know—folks who aren’t even in their network on the social media forum. Even more onerous is an uptick in the number of hunters recently reported to Facebook for their ‘offensive’ hunting pictures. Is a social media jihad being waged against us on Facebook?

Gun sales have been good in 2016. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has released the numbers on its March 2016 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Back Ground Check Systems (NICS) tracking. March produced a figure of 1,297,275, an increase of 9.2 percent compared to March 2015.

Remington Outdoor Company has announced its intention to file for bankruptcy protection. Remington, however, will not be dismembered to feed scraps to creditors in this softening gun-sales market.

Perhaps the single most noticeable change in firearms over the last 15 to 20 years has been the proliferation of synthetic stocks. But are they a superior product?
