undefinedIf you're a veteran or active service member of the Iraq and Afghanistan era, here's your chance to win a fully trained German shorthaired pointer courtesy of Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA). All you have to do is submit an essay by May 15 regarding your service to the country and interest in upland hunting. If your essay is chosen by a panel of judges, the shorthair is yours. Click here for full contest rules.

The GSP, a handsome pure-bred named "Fritz", is trained for upland bird hunting—he's already pointing and retrieving birds—courtesy of Sage Brush Gun Dogs. Never hunted with a dog before? No problem. The contest winner will be flown to Oregon for three days of free instruction on hunting with Fritz.

For more photos of Fritz, check out his YouTube video. Good luck, veterans, and thank you for your service.
