On this week's #SundayGunday we’re checking out the Bergara B14 Squared CIMA Carbon Fiber rifle, a beautiful, new-for-2025 fusion of modern elements and classic sporter style targeted squarely at backcountry hunters. Weighing in at a mere 5.8 pounds, it’s also the lightest B14 that Bergara has produced to date.

Let’s start with the barrel. Bergara has long been lauded for its extremely precise barrels, and its carbon-fiber Cure barrel is no exception. Instead of being constructed like a traditional carbon fiber barrel, Bergara has integrated a center wrap carbon weave designed to align directionally true to the center of the barrel’s bore. Utilizing Bergara’s proprietary Cold Bore Technology, Cure Barrels weave continuous stainless-steel strands into the carbon fiber to conduct heat away from the chamber and down the barrel in a uniform manner. The result? A reduction in overall barrel temperatures by an average of 50 degrees. This improves the disparity in impacts between the cold bore and follow up shots. Finally, the barrel’s exterior is a 45-degree weave anti-torsion carbon with a number 6 taper. Its muzzle is threaded to 5/8x24 TPI and is fitted with an Omni muzzlebrake.

The Cure barrel is threaded into a B14 action, which itself is nestled into an SMC Carbon Mini Chassis, which reinforces the stock and delivers repeatable accuracy. That stock, of course, is the foundation of the whole rifle. Of a sporter profile, it is crafted using a Resin Transfer Molding process, which results in a fully carbon fiber stock that weighs only 18 ounces, a truly exceptional spec. The buttstock sports an angled, flat bottom to make it easier to shoot off a bag, and two sling swivel studs reside at the front for the easy attachment of a sling and bipod, while just one sits at the rear.

The action feeds through an M5 bottom metal, which is cool footprint to use for the flexibility it provides. While the gun comes equipped with a hinged floorplate bottom metal, an M5 DBM bottom metal can easily be swapped in to make the gun AICS magazine compatible.

Finally, a Bergara Performance Trigger releases shots with clean precision. The housing of the trigger body includes a pull weight adjustment screw, which allows you to dial in your pull weight from anywhere between two and four pounds with a simple Allen key.

For more information on this ultralight tack driver, which comes available in seven different chamberings from .308 Win to .300 PRC, and retails for $1849, visit Bergara.online/us.
