Ledeprimos Celebrating 1

For five decades Primos Hunting has been an industry leader in game calls and hunting accessories. “Our roots are deep, but our eyes are firmly on the future,” said Anthony Foster, operations manager for Primos and a 23-year veteran of the brand. “This anniversary isn’t just about where we’ve been—it’s about where we’re going next. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished over the last half-century and just as excited about pushing boundaries to make hunting even better for the next generation.”

Company founder Will Primos’ love for the outdoors began at a young age. At 11 he hunted ducks for the first time with an uncle. He made his first call shortly after. A passion for pursuing turkey quickly followed.

He graduated from college in 1974 and went to work in his family’s restaurant business. That year he met the owner of a turkey hunting camp who showed him her hand-made mouth calls. His interest piqued.

Primos began crafting his own out of tin beer cans. They worked so well that by 1976 word had spread. Three short years later the company, then known as Primos Yelpers, had a small staff to handle orders that were no coming in from states far away from the company’s small Mississippi operation.

Meanwhile, Primos was still working at his family business, pouring what money he could spare into building what is today a hunting-industry icon. The big breakthrough came in 1983 when he introduced instructional audio tapes of actual hunts. It was a pioneering idea at the time and a marketing breakthrough that launched Primos Hunting.

Primos fans living near Nashville, Tenn.—whose schedule prevents them from attending the Great American Outdoor Show—might want to mark their calendar for this weekend. Primos is hosting a special anniversary gathering at the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) Convention and Sport Show. It runs Feb. 12 to Feb. 14 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.

Company founder, Will Primos, will be in the firm’s booth to sign autographs. Four limited-edition, numbered calls—one set commemorating the brand’s 50th anniversary and the other honoring the firm’s ongoing partnership with NWTF—will be available.

Primos, now a Revelyst brand, will continue its 50th anniversary celebration throughout 2026 with a brand refresh, new product launches, storytelling initiatives and moments that honor the hunters and traditions that made the brand what it is today.
