New for 2026, Winchester introduces its Supreme Long Range rifle ammunition line. Centered around the BC MAX projectile, Winchester has designed this ammunition with the consistency needed for longer shots in mind. The BC MAX is a cup-and-core bullet, with a nice, thick jacket to withstand the high impact velocities of the closer shots, while employing a larger than normal polymer tip to help initiate expansion on those longer shots where the bullet has slowed down. An elongated boattail will keep Ballistic Coefficient values high, to help to retain velocity downrange and resist the effects of wind deflection —both of these points are extremely important to the hunter who hunts the open country, where getting close is extremely difficult.
Winchester has chosen bullet weights in the middle to heavy end of the range for each cartridge—again to keep B.C. values high—and have developed new loading tools in the factory to increase consistency and uniformity. When it comes to long-range precision, any slight deformation of the projectile during the loading process can have a negative effect on the bullet’s flight, and it can be amplified with the VLD (very low drag) designs. For the Supreme Long Range line, Winchester has also opted for a match-grade primer for uniform powder ignition.

Winchester offers five loads in the Supreme Long Range currently, with more on the way. The initial lineup includes the .30-06 Springfield, .300 Winchester Magnum and .300 Winchester Short Magnum (each loaded with a 195 BC MAX bullet) and the 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC (loaded with the 140-grain BC MAX bullet). Winchester indicates that the line will soon be expanded to include the 6.8 Western (175-grain BC MAX), 7mm PRC (180-grain), .308 Winchester (175-grain) and the .300 PRC (195-grain). All are sold in 20-count boxes. For more information, visit winchester.com.
