So, over the past few months I've been blogging here and there, covering quirky whitetails stories and holding trumped up contests to get your attention. While those things may provide a laugh or even the occasional prize, these gimmicks aren't what deer hunting is all about—not even close.

I grew up in hunting western Maryland, a place where the big bucks were scarce and the opportunities to chase trophy-class whitetails were even less plentiful. We hunted mostly public land and small tracts of private woods hoping to luck into something worth hanging on the wall. Now, here I am, writing a whitetail blog like I really know what I'm doing. Truth is, this is my dream gig and each time I've got a big buck on the ground it's my new dream deer.

But yesterday the term "dream buck" was redefined in my near-pickled, often abused Irish brain. Just watch the video below. Be sure to watch the entire clip, the money shot is right at the end.

My hunting partner Tyler Kreis filmed this big boy on our brand new lease property on Maryland's eastern shore. We've seen at least six B&C bucks roaming around, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Our lease is an hour or so from my front door, and there's five close friends and family members signed on to hunt this season. The 120-acre property is in the middle of a sparsely populated residential area just off the Chesapeake Bay. It's mostly hardwoods but does border a large soy bean field and a smaller corn field.

For now, enjoy the video above and stand by for some whitetail blogging that isn't just for the passer by, we'll be hunting this new property hard to bring you our brand of whitetail adventure.
