Winchester's popular Varmint X line is expanding in 2016, with the addition of two new calibers: .17 Horney and .22 Hornet.

The new loads feature charcoal-colored, polymer tipped bullets. Varmint X ammo is designed to deliver a high performance, accurate cartridge for long-distance shots on predators and varmints. The .17 Hornet leaves the muzzle at a blazing 3,650 fps, and the .22 Hornet has a muzzle velocity of 3,100 fps.

The two new centerfire rifle offerings come on the heels of Winchester releasing its first-ever Varmint X shotshell, which was announced at SHOT Show 2016.

“The .17 Hornet and .22 Hornet are versatile caliber choices for use on a variety of predators and make for natural additions to the Varmint X line,” said Brett Flaugher, Winchester Ammunition vice president of marketing, sales and strategy.
