It feels like just yesterday that we awarded Benelli's Ethos with the Golden Bullseye for Shotgun of the Year. On the heels of that announcement, Benelli is expanding its now award-winning line, with the introduction of a 20-gauge edition.

Unless you’re one of those folks out there that’s a devout fan of the centerfire rifle (for all applications), you’ve probably noticed that Italians have a habit of making pretty nice shotguns. And I’m not just talking about the folks that have been at it for nearly five centuries. Benelli’s been at the scattergun game for just under 50 years —which still makes it something of a new kid on the block in this industry—but has more than made its mark on history.

When you're offered a chance to bust some clays and raise money for a great cause while doing so, you don't say no. It was with that in mind that four members of the NRA Publications department ventured to Queenstown, Md., on Sept. 11, 2015, for the inaugural Benelli Invitational.

Field Editor Jeff Johnston thought Benelli had gone bat-crazy when it unveiled its new shotgun earlier this year. That’s because it featured two stacked barrels and a wooden stock. But then he got a chance to put his hands on the company's new 828U.

It's safe to say that the Benelli ETHOS was well-received. Heck, we gave it a Golden Bullseye Award for Shotgun of the Year. So it wasn't much of a surprise when Benelli continued to flesh out the ETHOS line last year with the introduction of a 20-gauge variant. For 2016, the company is taking things a step further and releasing a 28-gauge ETHOS.
