The New Year is here—and with it comes one of the most important events that our staff covers, SHOT Show.

NRA Publications Editorial Director John Zent recalls how his father took him to his first "sportsman show" and got him hooked on the annual event that is now owned and operated by NRA as the Great American Outdoor Show.

The second annual Great American Outdoor Show, produced by NRA, attracted nearly 200,000 attendees and more than 1,100 exhibitors to Harrisburg, Pa.

In 2013, only weeks before the annual “Harrisburg show” was to begin, the event’s producer announced it had banned the sale or display of AR-style rifles. The sporting world was angered, and responded en masse to force a boycott. A year later, the NRA stepped in to rebrand the event the Great American Outdoor Show.

The 26^th Annual NRA National Gun Collectors Show will take place on Jan. 21-23, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nev., with over $11,000 in cash prizes to be awarded to individuals with the best displays as judged by the NRA Gun Collectors Committee.

Browning is releasing a new version of its classic A5 model shotgun, and it was a hit at SHOT Show's Media Day at the Range. The gun retains the A5's iconic humpback-shape, but is new and improved in all other respects.
