As we've mentioned a few times before, 2016 marks the 150th Anniversary for the cumulative Winchester brands. As you might expect, commemorative product releases are coming—some have already dropped, like the 150th Anniversary Model 73 we saw at SHOT Show 2016. Next up on the list is Winchester Ammo's recently announced custom-built, collectible cartridge-firearm boards. There will be five in all.

2016 marks 200 years of Remington Arms. The company is celebrating its bicentennial in a number of ways—such as the launch of a new warranty policy—and NRA Pubs is joining the party. Available now, free of charge, is the NRA Publications-produced "Remington 1816-2016: 200 Years of America's Oldest Gunmaker."

Although the ammunition and gun businesses split up years ago, the two entities—Winchester Ammunition and Winchester Repeating Arms Co.—this year have teamed to celebrate the brand’s 150-year-old legacy.

A lot of companies are celebrating anniversaries in 2016. Winchester us turning 150. Remington's now 200 years old. And Benelli's legendary Super Black Eagle? Well, it's only 25, but it's made for a memorable quarter century. To celebrate, Benelli is introducing a limited edition SBEII 25th Anniversary model of its most celebrated scattergun.

Estimates show less than one percent of all companies make it to their 100th year in business. Federal Ammunition will join this select group in 2022, and has plans to celebrate all year long.

In June 1941, an American pilot—one Roland “Bud” Wolfe—was flying a British RAF Spitfire on a sortie over the Atlantic and returning to his base in northern Ireland. His engine experienced a failure, and Wolfe was forced to eject to safety. The Spitfire plunged into a bog at more than 300 mph.

In case you hadn't heard, the Winchester brand as a whole is celebrating 150 years of history at SHOT Show—and throughout the entirety of 2016, for that matter. And if you're going to celebrate your history, it makes sense to show some of it off.

A legendary brand was launched in 1866, and 150 years later Winchester is celebrating its founding with a series of commemorative offerings. Among them is a once-in-a-lifetime series of 10, pre-production rifles, chambered in 44-40, of the "One of Five Hundred" Model 1866 "Yellow Boy."
