Elk are among North America’s greatest game animals, leaving Shawn Skipper a bit excited when he joined Weatherby on his first-ever elk hunt. Weatherby has continued to roll out its upcoming 2016 product line, and among its most recent announcements was the arrival of the new Wilderness rifle, the latest iteration in the company's popular Vanguard series.

Weatherby has announced the pending reelase of its new Vanguard Leupold Package, the latest offering in the company's venerable Vanguard line, which originally debuted in the 1970s. As the package's name suggests, it will include both a rifle and an optic, in this case the Leupold VX-2 3-9X 40 mm riflescope.

On the heels of its bevy of 2016 product introductions, Weatherby has announced that it will be making the new Vanguard Dangerous Game rifle available in the coming year. A variant of the venerable Vanguard line, the Dangerous Game Rifle (DGR) will be available through Weatherby's Custom Shop.

Last summer, Weatherby's "Women of Weatherby" initiative launched a "Name Your Rifle" program, offering consumers the opportunity to vote on the name of an otherwise mysterious new firearm.
