Hats off to Susan Recce, Director of NRA-ILA’s Conservation, Wildlife and Natural Resources Division, as she is honored for a 40-year career fighting for sportsmen’s access to public lands.

Despite the fact hunters are the greatest source of revenue for the great outdoors, we still face restrictions on Sunday hunting in 11 states. The NRA-ILA continues to push for standardized regulations every day of the week to protect our right to hunt and our ability to affect conservation goals.

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., has pledged to donate $2 to the National Rifle Association for each new Ruger firearm sold between the 2015 and 2016 NRA Annual Meetings. The company has its sights set on reaching a goal of $4 million in donations, all of which are to benefit the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA).

About this time last year, Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., pledged to donate $2 to the National Rifle Association for each new Ruger firearm sold between the 2015 and 2016 NRA Annual Meetings. Ruger delivered on its promise, and donated some $4 million to NRA earlier this year, in Louisville. The success has inspired the company to raise the bar a peg and extend the promotion—enter the "2.5 Million Gun Challenge."

Hunters in Indiana and Kansas scored landslide victories during the 2016 General Election when voters overwhelmingly approved adding an amendment to each state’s constitution that preserves the right to hunt.

Animal-rights activists on July 17 sued the state of Wisconsin over its 2015 Right to Hunt Act, claiming their rights are infringed by the act’s expansion of anti-hunter harassment laws and its explanation of what exactly “harassment” entails.

A brand new NRA program will raise money and awareness for the benefit of hunting and hunters nationwide.

Passing S. 659 out of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on Jan. 20 marked the final step needed to bring the full Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act to the Senate floor for a vote.
