Scott Olmsted travels to Manitoba for Canada geese, mainly because every waterfowler worth his salty waders says you must experience such a hunt at least once.

It's hard to define what qualifies a motion picture as an "outdoor" film. To make this list the film must center on hunting and/or the outdoors. One of these two elements must be central to the plot, theme, tone and overall narrative of the flick. The movie gets more points if it has more than one—and a lot of shooting. Sure, a good film about love, loss and triumph that has outdoor-based cinematography might seem to fit, but we need to dig a little deeper here. Same goes for Westerns, they have their own category.

Armed with Kimber rifles, American Hunter Editor-in-Chief Scott Olmsted and his girlfriend journeyed to South Africa for a Plains-game hunt of a lifetime, taking Impala, Kudu, Cape Eland and more. The pair also captured images of the unique flora and fauna scattered across the South African countryside, which they share in this photo gallery.

NRA E-Media's Tom Rickwalder captured these images while he and American Hunter Editor-in-Chief Scott Olmsted hunted game in Africa's Caprivi Strip. From crocs and wildebeest to hippos and elephants, the Kimber Caprivi and Mountain Ascent have helped to get the job done.
