Fresh off its late-December teaser video, Savage Arms has announced that it will be entering the AR-15 market with the introduction of the new Savage MSR line.
Savage Arms jumped into the AR market this year with four new guns, two of which are for big-game hunters. The Savage MSR 10 Hunter and MSR 10 Long Range are built on a custom-size platform similar to the AR-10 and designed for cartridges in the .308 Win. class.
The newest high-speed cartridge developed for the AR-15 platform was just released by Federal Premium Ammunition in the form of the .224 Valkyrie, allowing supersonic velocity out to 1,300 yards.
Based on the 6.8 SPC cartridge, the .224 Valkyrie is designed to give excellent long-range ballistics from an AR platform with little recoil. Loaded with 60- to 90-grain bullets, the cartridge makes a sound choice for deer and varmints alike.
