The No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet that raced in the Goodyear 400 in Darlington, South Carolina on Sunday, March 22, prominently featured a paint scheme that included Winchester Long Beard XR, the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and Bass Pro Shops. The hunting and conservation message was delivered every lap to those in attendance, as well as viewers enjoying the spectacle from the comfort of home on Fox Sports 1 or HBO Max.
Fast cars and checkered flags are glamorous, but the company fuels more serious victories far from any racetrack. Here’s are a couple that put Winchester in the winner’s circle in ways that, unfortunately, rarely make headlines.
Aiding Families of Ailing Children
Winchester and White Flyer recently announced they are continuing their support of the Kids & Clays Foundation. This year, for the 27th year in a row, the duo is again providing targets, ammunition and merchandise worth thousands of dollars for Kids & Clays events across the nation.
Ronald McDonald House Charities keep 100 percent of the net proceeds from each Kids & Clays event. That money, in turn, helps maintain a nationwide network of Ronald McDonald Houses. Each of them provides parents a place to stay near the facility treating their child for a serious health condition. The compassion dispensed to concerned adults by volunteer staff under those rooves is therapeutic. Eliminating long trips is comforting during an emotionally painful time. The medicinal value delivered when a youth knows loved ones are at their side, and staying nearby, is priceless. I can personally attest to the value and difference it makes.
“Kids & Clays is an organization that has set the standard for utilizing the positivity of the shooting sports to support and further the outstanding work of Ronald McDonald House,” said Jason Gilbertson, senior director of marketing for Winchester Ammunition. “It is an honor to contribute to and be associated with Kids & Clays and that we can help further the mission of helping critically ill children.”
Military Families
Winchester also recently made a $100,000 pledge to Folds of Honor. The organization provides educational scholarships to the children and spouses of fallen or disabled U.S. military service members and first responders. To date, Winchester Ammunition has contributed more than a half million dollars to the group.
“Supporting Folds of Honor for the sixth consecutive year is a source of immense pride for our organization,” Gilbertson said. “Winchester remains committed to our heritage of supporting the U.S. military throughout the world.”
Add Winchester’s generous support of Gun Owners Care, Project ChildSafe and other safety programs, and it’s obvious the company’s 159-year history is only a small part of the reason it’s such a legend today.
