On this week's #SundayGunday, we're taking a look at a capable hunting revolver that’s chambered in a caliber you’re more likely to see in a rifle: the 350 Legend. That’s right, Taurus has released their large-frame Raging Hunter in the whitetail-thumping 350 Legend cartridge. That means you can now tote a rifle in 350 Legend for long shots, and this handy pistol in 350 Legend for the times when you want to get close. Straight-wall hunters should take note.

The 350 Raging hunter utilizes the same oversized cylinder that made the Raging Hunter such a success. A double-action revolver, it uses a pair of locking latches to ensure rigidity with the larger cartridges it’s chambered for. It also has the ability to be cocked into single-action service for a lighter, shorter trigger pull. Leaving ample room for stout steel between each chamber, this revolver has a capacity of six rounds. But as the 350 Legend cartridge is built with a rebated rim, moon clips are required to make this combination function properly, and Taurus includes five of these with the revolver.

The 350 Raging Hunter is offered in either a 14- or 10.5-inch barrel. The barrel is threaded into the frame, and an abbreviated shroud fits over it and is pinned in place to assure it doesn’t rotate. Picatinny rail sections are incorporated into the top and bottom of the shroud, perfect for a scope and a bipod to steady this beast.

The barrel terminates with a multi-port compensator to eat up recoil and keep the muzzle flat when shooting. Mounted behind that is the front-sight housing that contains a highly visible fiber-optic rod. This is joined by a rear sight of the same composition that is fully adjustable for windage and elevation.
Whether you’re looking to add a revolver to your existing 350 Legend line-up, or you’re looking to get into handgun hunting with a bit less recoil than what the .460 S&W or .454 Casull will throw your way, the Raging Hunter in 350 Legend is a great option. Sure, you lose a bit of velocity when you scale down to a revolver-length barrel, but inside 75 yards or so, the Raging Hunter in 350 Legend still packs enough punch to get the job done.

Look for the Raging Hunter at gun stores now, with a shelf price right around $1,500. For more information, visit taurususa.com.
