On this week's #SundayGunday, were checking out the RB22 Compact, a fun little rimfire from Rossi USA that will appeal to plinkers, junior shooters and small-game hunters alike. Incredibly lightweight and portable, this is a bolt-action that is ready to throw up to your shoulder and shoot as soon as you open the box. Open sights adorn its 16-inch barrel—a fiber optic, hooded red front sight, and a green fiber optic U-notch rear. The rear is easily adjustable for both elevation and windage, thanks to two, simple-to-use knobs. It’s muzzle is threaded to 1/2x28 TPI for the easy attachment of a suppressor. Thanks to its lightweight .22 Long Rifle chambering and bolt-action operation, suppressing this little shooter is a real treat. Without any reciprocating material, the gun is incredibly quiet, and shooting it suppressed is so effective it might even help you pick off a few more squirrels before the woods get wise.

The action feeds from a 10-round magazine, keeping you on target for longer and allowing for easy reloads when your magazine does run dry. A short length of pull combines with the diminutive overall length of just 31.2 inches to make this a gun you can get on target quickly and efficiently. A cross-bolt safety, easily actuated with the trigger finger, also helps with this. To the rear of the receiver, a cocking indicator gives shooters a visual indication that the gun is live, a real boon when training up junior hunters. For more information on this excellent starter gun, or fun all around plinker which sports a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of just $209.99, visit rossiusa.com. And to see more #SundayGunday any day of the week, check out our playlist on YouTube, where all previous episodes are archived.

Hardware Review: Steyr Pro Hunter III SX

While its most recognizable gun remains the ever-futuristic-looking AUG tactical bullpup first made in 1977 and still used by militaries worldwide, Steyr also makes handguns and hunting rifles. Its Pro Hunter III SX rifle is an all-around hunting rifle and a great example of Steyr quality, a trait much easier felt than described. I’ll try it anyway.

Copper Mine Helps Boost Arizona’s Bighorn Population

One of the world’s most productive copper mines is also one of Arizona’s most reliable sources of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. The bighorns are not shy about entering the Freeport McMoRan open-pit mining operation—near Morenci, Ariz.—but predators are. As a result, there’s no natural check on sheep population growth.
