This week on #SundayGunday, we’re checking out the Dead Air Nomad 30, the .30-caliber hunting stalwart of Dead Air’s suppressor lineup.

The name of the game with the Nomad 30 is lightness, ruggedness and economy. It does this by eschewing more expensive metals, and maintaining a 17-4 PH stainless steel fully-welded construction that still only tips the scales at 14.5 ounces. That’s less than a pound for a suppressor rated for calibers up to .300 Norma Mag., and 4400 ft.-lb. of energy. The can stretches 6.5 inches in length, and 1.735 inches in diameter in it’s standard, thread on configuration. Indeed, it ships with a 5/8x24 TPI fixed mount, but is also compatible with Dead Air’s Xeno and KeyMo mounting systems if the shooter so chooses, though that will stretch out the length a bit. Even cooler? The Nomad is compatible with all R-series front caps, meaning shooters can add an e-brake to the end of their silencer, to further tame recoil. While that adds an ounce and a half of weight, and an inch and a half of length, and thus won’t be something every hunter is looking for, it could be a real boon to anyone shooting a hard charger like .300 Win. Mag. looking to drop that prodigious recoil just a touch.

For those looking for more sound reduction, the Nomad also comes in an “L” variation that stretches some 2 inches longer and 4 ounces heavier, but knocks the decibels down even further.

On the other end of the scale, there is the Nomad Ti XC. Just over $100 more expensive than the standard Nomad 30, this silencer is made out of its namesake titanium, specifically—Grade 5 6A1-4V Titanium—which drops the weight down to a mere 9.6 ounces. Despite this, it maintains its 4400 ft.-lb. rating, and a caliber rating up to .300 RUM. The only drawback is it does not accept R-series front caps.
