What if you could scout your deer lease from work, home or anywhere else with Internet access? Moultrie’s GPS GameSpy Connect makes that possible.

I found it to be a very user-friendly system. Just plug the Connect into a compatible Moultrie GameSpy trail camera, install both on a tree, and the Connect automatically uploads images from your camera to www.MoultrieGame Management.com. When a new photo is ready, you’ll receive a text message alert. Then you can log on to the Moultrie website from your cell phone or computer.
There is a fee, however. Plans are through AT&T and start at $30 a month. There are no overage fees—once you reach the maximum data limit for your plan, the camera simply stops uploading. If you wish you can renew monthly rather than annually.

The quality of the uploaded images isn’t n early a s good as those obtained from the trail camera’s internal card, but the immediacy of knowing what the camera has captured is a beautiful thing. I encountered almost no headaches with the Connect, but one complaint is its thirst for batteries. Six regular AA’s powered it for about 10 days. Fortunately the Connect allows you to check its battery
life without entering the woods

Overall the GameSpy Connect is a great system, and the butterflies I got in my stomach each time it alerted me to a new photo was the most fun I had all summer. In fact, the photo above is a GameSpy upload captured on my deer lease. Hopefully next time I see that big boy it’ll be through my bow’s peep sight! ($155; 800-653-3334; www.moultriefeeders.com)
