Think the national news media reports the truth? Think again. For weeks now, gun-control advocates have claimed data they have collected indicate a majority of NRA members support an assault-weapon ban. Only problem is such organizations have no access to NRA membership roles.
But the NRA Institute for Legislative Action does, and its findings are eye-opening.
A scientific poll conducted for NRA-ILA by OnMessage Inc. from Jan. 13 to 14, 2013, of 1,000 individuals indicates 89 percent of NRA members oppose banning semi-automatic firearms, often mistakenly called “assault rifles.” Ninety-one percent of NRA members support laws keeping firearms away from the mentally ill.
