American Hunter Presents Annual Golden Bullseyes

Editor in Chief J. Scott Olmsted this morning presented outdoor-industry leaders with American Hunter’s best-in-class awards.

American Hunter's 2016 Golden Bullseye Award Winners

NRA Publications will present its annual Golden Bullseye Awards and Golden Bullseye Pioneer Award at an invitation-only breakfast on Friday, May 20, during the 2016 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Louisville, Kentucky.

2017 Shotgun of the Year: Remington V3 Field Sport

Remington's V3 Field Sport is our 2017 Shotgun of the Year.

2017 Optic of the Year: Leupold VX-3i

Ron Spomer called the VX-3i an "ideal, do-anything scope." That's just part of the reason it's our 2017 "Optic of the Year."

2017 Ammunition Product of the Year: Hornady Precision Hunter

Most modern bullets use polymer tips, but polymer melts at 320-345 degrees Fahrenheit, while bullets can reach temperatures greater than 800 degrees during flight. To counter this, Hornady created the ELD-X hunting bullet with its Heat Shield Tip, which sports a melting point above 700 degrees and degrades far less, making for a more accurate bullet with a higher ballistic coefficient. The company then loaded it in its Hornady Precision Hunter ammo line.

2017 Gear of the Year: YETI Hopper Two Coolers

The YETI Hopper Two is a soft-sided cooler built for the field. It's also our 2017 "Gear of the Year."

2017 Handgun of the Year: Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory

“Heavy,” “handgun” and “.22 LR” aren’t words that are usually strung together. But it is that weight, along with other features of the Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory, that makes this semi-automatic pistol so great.

2017 Woman's Innovation Product of the Year: Weatherby Vanguard Camilla

Twenty percent of hunters are female, so it can’t hurt to offer women a hunting rifle they can call their own. Weatherby’s Vanguard Camilla Rifle goes above and beyond the typical “color it pink and call it a girl’s gun.”
