Although you may not recognize the name, chances are you have seen and even shot the handiwork produced by Bergara. Following its success in the barrel market, Bergara recently moved into building complete rifles, including the Custom Mountain Hunter.

The new Savage A17 uses a delayed blowback action. A small bar in the top of the bolt slides up to fit into a slot in the receiver when the bolt is closed, locking the action. The bar cams back down upon firing to release the bolt and allow the action to cycle, but it delays the action from opening until pressure has dropped to a manageable level.

Building off the success of its A17—winner of our Golden Bullseye Award for Rifle of the Year—the A22 Magnum is, as you might expect, chambered for .22 WMR and features the same delayed-blowback semi-automatic action as the original A17.

Savage Arms has announced the launch of its new A17 XP Scope package gun. The new A17 XP model features a Bushnell A17 scope that comes mounted and boresighted.

The Savage Arms A17 was a bit of a hit in 2015, and for good reason. It featured a unique, delayed-blowback action that allowed the typically "too hot" .17 HMR cartridge to cycle reliably in a semi-automatic rifle. In the wake of the A17's success, Savage announced the A22 Mag. Now, for 2017, the company is appealing to diehard fans of .22 rimfire with the announcement of the A22 LR.

Expanding on its B14 rifle series, Bergara has introduced the B14 Series Hunting and Match Rifle (HMR).
