When Colt introduced its new and improved Python revolver a couple of years ago, hunters admired it but waited for their gun: the Anaconda. Last year they got it, a .44 Magnum hunting handgun with a glossy finish, big grips and the world-famous Colt ventilated rib.

“Heavy,” “handgun” and “.22 LR” aren’t words that are usually strung together. But it is that weight, along with other features of the Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory, that makes this semi-automatic pistol so great.

Taurus makes its dedication to the hunting market more obvious than ever with the release of its Raging Hunter. Although “raging” is in its name, this .44 Mag. will make many hunters happy with its features and performance.

Kimber is one of the big dogs in 1911 handguns, and when the company mated its 5-inch 1911 with a Trijicon RMR red-dot sight, the resulting KHX Custom (OI) turned out to be an excellent hunting handgun when chambered in 10mm Auto.

The 10mm Auto punches above its weight, and in a 1911 it does so in a relatively small package. The Kimber Camp Guard 10 with its nine-round magazine, as AH contributor Keith Wood noted, is a “1911-lover’s backcountry sidearm."

The .454 Casull joins the .44 Magnum and .357 Magnum chambers offered in the company’s popular Raging Hunter revolver platform.
