With a suggested retail price of just under $400, the new bolt-action Compass is Thompson/Center’s entry into the budget-friendly hunting rifle market.

The second generation of T/C’s budget-friendly Compass bolt-action rifle comes with all the features that made the previous-generation model a success plus several new upgrades.

Thompson/Center Arms has issued an immediate recall on all of its Compass rifles. The company has determined that, in some instances, depending on the heigh and position of the rifle and other factors, a chambered round may fire if the firearm is dropped with the safety in the fire position. The recall applies to all Compass rifles manufactured prior to Sept. 16, 2016.

Anarchy Outdoors has introduced two upgrades for the Thompson Center Compass and Venture rifles—a threaded bolt handle and a Picatinny scope base with a bubble level.

I admit it. I’m an old guy, and I do not really like technology all that much. When it comes to hunting laser rangefinders and, upon occasion, a trail camera, are about as high tech as I get. I’ve never been a big fan of using a GPS when hunting, preferring the old school way—the topographic map and compass.
