On this week's #SundayGunday, we’re checking out the Maven RS1.2 riflescope—a first focal plane model tailored for western hunters seeking range and precision. A natural evolution of Maven’s RS.1 riflescope, the 1.2 takes the 2.5-15x44mm FFP construction, with side parallax adjustment, and adds an illuminated reticle and a dialable, zero-stop elevation turret.

Maven RS1.2 Elevation dialing

Inside, the RS1.2 offers the shooter’s choice of an MOA-2, SHR-W or SHR- MIL reticle. When equipped with either of the first two (MOA) reticles, turrets come in quarter-MOA click adjustments. If the MIL reticle is used, however, adjustments are in .1 MIL clicks. Low-dispersion ED glass provides excellent clarity, and a smooth focus mechanism allows for precise adjustment to the shooter’s eye. Reticle illumination has 10 brightness settings, adjustable via a secondary wheel on top of the parallax adjustment. Off settings are included in between each illumination level, for a quick on and off. The 30mm is waterproof and fogproof, with anodizing on the outside to resist damage from dings and scratches.

Our test model was equipped with the MOA-2 reticle, which made holding for wind or elevation a breeze. At full magnification, 40 MOA of holdover is visible, along with 20 MOA of windage in either direction. In addition to this, 5-20 MOA of windage are available on every one of the holdover lines, making combining Kentucky windage with holdover precise and easy. There are even 10 MOA of hold under, for those who prefer to zero beyond 100 yards. On the main crosshairs, the reticle is graduated in single and five-MOA hashmarks.

For more information on this excellent precision riflescope, which weighs in at 26.4 ounces, with a length of 14.1 inches and is priced at $1200, check out mavenbuilt.com. For more #SundayGunday, check out our playlist on YouTube, where all previous episodes are archived.
