Smith & Wesson introduces its M&P10 Sport, an AR-style rifle chambered in .308 Win., with a budget-friendly MSRP of $1,049. The new Sport is the lowest-priced configuration in the M&P10 family, yet it has several features big-game hunters will appreciate in the field.
The M&P10 Sport’s 16-inch barrel and 8-pound weight should prevent the rifle from becoming a burden on long hikes. Its six-position, telescopic stock permits easy length-of-pull adjustments to fit different body sizes and weather-dependent dress. The composite fore-end covers a mid-length gas system. Left-handed shooters will celebrate the ambidextrous safety lever, bolt release and magazine release.
Featuring 5R rifling with a 1:10-inch twist, the barrel also has an Armornite finish on both its exterior and interior. Armornite is a hardened nitride finish that resists corrosion and wear, plus its matte-black appearance reduces game-spooking glare.
With Picatinny rails integral to both its upper receiver and gas block, the M&P10 Sport comes ready for optics or iron sights. Attaching a traditional two-point sling is also hassle-free, as the rifle comes with sling loops on the buttstock and gas block. The M&P10 Sport ships with a 20-round Magpul PMag.
