The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) received the highly coveted Winchester Legend Award during its 50th Convention and Sport Show in February. Winchester Ammunition presented the award during the event’s Winchester-NWTF Veterans Breakfast.

“It is an honor to have Winchester recognize the NWTF for the decades of delivering on our mission to conserve the wild turkey and preserve our hunting heritage,” said NWTF Board of Directors Chairman Bryan Perry. “Though I am accepting this award on behalf of the NWTF, this is an award that is shared by all of the numerous volunteers, members, partners and staff who work day in and day out to leave this world a better place for future generations and continue to bring people together through the life-changing power of the outdoors.”

The Winchester Legend Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made a positive impact in the hunting and shooting sports community, while also representing the Winchester brand at the highest level.

“Winchester honors the NWTF with this prestigious award for their decades of commitment to conservation, the shooting sports and hunting traditions,” said Jason Gilbertson, senior director of marketing for Winchester Ammunition. “As the first million-dollar sponsor of the NWTF, Winchester has supported the NWTF since the very beginning. To deliver this award at the 50th Convention and Sport Show demonstrates a longstanding alignment that has positively impacted hunters and sport shooters throughout the United States.”

Winchester Ammunition is legendary, with a rich 160-year history that includes supporting a variety of conservation, non-profit and philanthropic efforts. It offers small-caliber ammunition brands for hunting, recreational shooting, self-defense and is the largest supplier to the U.S. military. During the NWTF Convention and Sport show the company showcased its patriotic USA 250th Commemorative line, as well as brands ideal for turkey hunting, including Long Beard XR and Long Beard Tungsten.
