Mainhi Bird Fiber Wad

Federal Ammunition has recently added three load options to its Premium Hi-Bird Fiber Wad shotshells. These 12-gauge loads feature a cellulose-based fiber wad, reducing plastic waste in the field while delivering the same hard-hitting downrange energy as the original Hi-Bird loads.

“Hi-Bird Fiber Wad is the perfect solution for high-volume upland bird hunters and competitive shooters looking to minimize their environmental impact,” said Dan Compton, Federal Shotshell Product Director. “These fiber wads break down naturally over time in the field, helping to reduce plastic buildup while still providing the high velocities, pattern consistency, and downrange performance that hunters and shooters expect.”

This shotshell features a gas-sealing over-powder fiber wad for optimal performance, lead shot, and high-power 12-gauge loads. It is an excellent option for both field and competition shooting.

Joining the 12-gauge No. 5 shot option released in 2023, the Hi-Bird Fiber Wad line now includes No. 4 and No. 6 shot variants. Each load features a 12-gauge, 2¾-inch shell with 1¼ ounces of shot and a velocity of 1,330 fps, delivering consistent performance for varying shooting needs. Hi-Bird Fiber Wad shotshells are available in 25-round boxes.
