Opening morning, we took out Katherine Grand of Prois Hunting Apparel and her husband, Eric, and were able to get her husband his first bird. Katherine had quite a few chances, but unfortunately didn't connect. She was, however, able to find some elk sheds and go home with some pretty good hardware. ;)
Tracy and I got our birds a few days later on a turkey bike-hunt. All of our Forest Service roads are closed here (Colorado) in the spring, so we ride our bikes way back in to our secret turkey spots. When we get a bird, we just strap it on the handlebars for an easy cruise out.
Tracy's husband got one this week, and we are in the process of figuring out which state we can go to next because we are having way too much fun to stop now. Take care and have a great spring.
Olmsted writes: That's Lanny in the featured photo up top, and she's the one riding the bike in the images below, too. In other photos, Tracy shows off her bird, and Katherine and Eric Grand show off Eric's tom and Katherine's elk shed. Lanny and Tracy will be featured in the June print edition of American Hunter, in First Light. In the meantime, check out the Barnes sisters' website here.
