Gearing Up: Your Home for SHOT Show 2012 Coverage

There’s no doubt about it, the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show is a big deal. The largest and most comprehensive trade show for the shooting, hunting and law enforcement industries, SHOT Show attracts firearms retailers, manufacturers and outdoor media from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. WVU's Mascot Shoots Bear with Official Musket

In a YouTube video declared by Deadspin's Barry Petchesky as the "most West Virginia video ever," the West Virginia Mountaineer mascot is shown shooting a bear from a tree with his official school-issued musket. The mascot, senior Jonathan Kimble, was hunting in his native West Virginia and, obviously, had chosen a hound hunt as his tactic.The video has since been deleted by the user, but was reposted by Deadspin.

Off to Media Day at the Range

I'm on the ground in Las Vegas and getting ready to venture out to 2013's Media Day at the Range, which is almost undoubtedly the best part of SHOT Show.

Off to Illinois

Looks like I'll be stepping away from Virginia and NRA HQ for a bit next week—I'm trekking out to Illinois on a family hunting trip with my dad and a handful of longtime friends.
