On this week's #SundayGunday, we’re checking out the RM64 revolver from Rossi USA. Chambered in hard hitting .357 Magnum, this is the perfect backcountry defense gun for hunters in bear country, and could even serve as a primary for handgun hunters in the thick eastern deerwoods. This is down also to Rossi’s choice of barrel length for this particular six-shooter. Four inches is the sweet spot for portability in the field, without sacrificing so much barrel length that accuracy and energy start to take too large a hit.

On top of the barrel, a removable serrated blade front sight pair with a full adjustable rear, making point of aim completely tunable for utmost accuracy. The barrel sports six-groove rifling and a 1:16.5-inch right-hand twist rate to stabilize bullets. The medium-sized frame is crafted from carbon steel, as is its cylinder and barrel. All are finished in satin black, and only one cylinder is included with the firearm.

The revolver is DA/SA, offering shooters the choice between instant readiness with a longer trigger pull, and a short, light pull for more measured shooting. A hammer block safety prohibits unintended discharges. Moving downward, a thumb lever swings the cylinder free for fast and easy reloads, aided by a palm-able ejector rod. Finally, a thick rubber grip deadens the shock of recoil.
