Planning a safari can be almost as exciting as the safari itself, since you’re preparing for a world where nature reigns. Decisions have to be made of whether to use a booking agent, what to carry and what species to hunt, which can also make the prospect seem daunting.

There are many sources of information, such as the Internet, magazine and books, but to get an in-depth look at how to plan for a safari from the experts, you can also attend the “Your First African Safari” seminar at the 41st annual SCI Hunters’ Convention in Reno, Nev., Jan. 23 through Jan. 26, 2013.

SCI's longest-running seminar, moderated by Craig Boddington and hosted by leading experts in these fields, "Your First African Safari" is a panel discussion intended for hunters in any stage of planning their first African safari.
