Baseball Team Changes Name to "Fighting Pheasants"

An independent Sioux Falls, SD, pro baseball team has announced plans to change its name from the Canaries to the "Fighting Pheasants." CEO Gary Weckwerth made the following statement in a press release:

"The Canaries have historical baseball value in Sioux Falls, but it really didn't show an identity of our state, where the popularity of pheasant hunting does … plus the pheasant is just a lot tougher and meaner bird!"

I agree. Ever been spurred by an ornery pheasant? That hurts.
