Turkey Calls (are) "Dirty Propaganda"

Trickish, deceptive, underhanded -- all valid ways of describing a master turkey caller. But now they've gone too far.

The Headline: Turkey calls charges turning from West 'dirty propaganda'

The Summary: I’m not sure what this headline from Yahoo online means exactly, but I think it has something to do with turkey hunting. Doesn’t everything?

Jeff’s Take: If you insert the word “hunting” after each reference to Turkey, this otherwise tripe story gets to be quite a read. I just wish international leaders would stay out of America’s storied turkey conservation effort. I mean, if they want to come over here and hunt our No. 1 game bird, get a non-resident license and have at 'em, but don’t go telling us that our turkey calling is nothing but "dirty propaganda." That’s just stupid.

“Ain’t That The Truth” Turkey Hunting Quote: "I believe we … have made a mistake in pushing Turkey to the east, instead of pulling it towards us," said Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini.

Don’t sweat it, Franco-baby, happens all the time. To trick that cagey old turk, try being quiet for a change, and act like a female bird who wants to breed. If you still have problems bagging him, look for an article in American Hunter next spring, entitled, “How to Bag the Turk.” It’ll tell you everything you need to know. But to do that, you’ve got to join the NRA, and that might be a problem among you and your U.N. friends.
