The name SIG Sauer is synonymous with many things, but "bolt-action rifle" has never been among them. Never, that is, until now, with the debut of SIG Sauer's new CROSS Rifle—a precision bolt-action firearm aimed squarely at the hunting community. Designed in-house by SIG Sauer's engineers, and both manufactured and machined at the company's facilities in New Hampshire, the CROSS has been tested by everyone from competitive and long-range shooters, to a team of professional hunters, for whom the rifle is primarily built.

“When our product management team and engineers researched developing a bolt-action rifle, they looked at what was missing from the market, and what new innovation SIG could bring to hunters and precision shooters,” said Tom Taylor, chief marketing officer and executive vice president of commercial sales. He continued, “Hunting rifles are typically focused on less weight, and accuracy is secondary. Precision rifles are designed for extreme accuracy, with no weight limitations. What was missing from the market was a true crossover. Our product management team and engineers took the best of both worlds and developed the CROSS featuring the characteristics of a hunting rifle, with the accuracy of a precision rifle.”

Fashioned around a one-piece aluminum receiver that requires no bedding for the action, the CROSS boasts a push-button, foldable SIG Precision Stock for easy transport in and out of the field. Over and above mere portability, this stock is spring loaded for single-handed operation, and features tool-less Length of Pull (LOP) and comb adjustment. Moving forward, a two-stage match-grade trigger (adjustable from 2.5-4 lbs.) sends shots down a stainless-steel barrel, surrounded by a free-floating M-Lok handguard. An ambidextrous safety is mounted in the conventional position above the pistol grip, while the rifle's action (fed by an AICS-pattern magazine) is charged via a three-lug bolt, with a 60-degree, interchangeable bolt handle. Finally, for the easy mounting of optics at either a 20- or 0-m.o.a. cant, an interchangeable stretch of picatinny rail runs along the top of the receiver, and the rear of the handguard. The CROSS Rifle is currently available in either black-anodized or First Lite-camouflage finish, chambered in 6.5 mm Creedmoor, .308 Win. or  the soon-to-be-released .277 SIG Fury Hybrid Ammunition.
