African Game: The Spiral Horns

The greatest of Africa’s antelopes is a family group known as the spiral-horns. Numbering nine species (and 26 subspecies), the spiral-horns are the most numerous of the antelope families.

When Goethe was invited by the governor of Weimar to join him on a hunting trip he answered; 'If I would see that magnificent bird sitting on a tree, in the glory of the early morning,... I would lower my gun and say,... live, and enjoy, my friend!'.
