SSC provides the opportunity for shooters to practice on dynamic hunting scenarios inside an air-conditioned, live-fire cinema range using their own rifles and ammunition.

Winchester Ammo "R&D" Outing in North Texas

Editorial Director John Zent and Development Manager Tom Rickwalder were in Canadian, Texas, with Winchester Ammo last month for a "R&D" outing, testing a new load that's still in the development process. Early indications are that the developmental load—due for release in January, 2015—will be great shakes for deer hunters. Mt. Hide Outfitters did a fine job putting the hunters on deer on this north Texas ranch.

Hunting Maryland's Eastern Shore with Banded and Avery Outdoors

American Hunter Associate Editor Jon Draper and NRA Publications' Editorial Director John Zent just returned from a late-season goose hunting trip to Maryland’s famed Eastern Shore. The Pro Staff from Avery and Banded provided an opportunity to test the quality apparel from Banded, the awesome decoys from Avery GHG and a chance to experience what the historic area is known for: epic waterfowl hunting.

Waterfowl Hunting With the Benelli Ethos

Truly great hunters aren’t seen on television. Their names don’t often grace shiny pages in print. The truly great ones are scattered along the open swaths of fertile pasture in the heartland, bogged down in the sultry Southeastern swamps and trekking the peaks of mountains in parts unknown. They succeed or fail not by the bag brought home, but the memories gained, the lessons shared and the inevitable feeling of self-accomplishment. Here’s to them.
