Hardware: Sauer 101 Highland XTC

Weighing in at 5.5 pounds, the ultralight Sauer 101 Highland XTC is a well-balanced, all-around rifle, featuring a hand-laid carbon fiber stock, fluted and factory threaded barrel, fluted bolt and all the standard S101 features that guarantee reliability and accuracy.

Hardware: Cabela’s Instinct Euro HD 8x32mm

The Cabela's Instinct Euro HD projects an impressively sharp, bright, high-contrast image, thanks in part to anti-reflection multi-coatings on all air-to-glass surfaces plus HD objective lenses that minimize color fringing. Cabela’s has been branding Meopta optics for many years, and this 8x32 might be its smartest selection yet.

His legendary adventures are well documented in his 1881 book. American Hunter contributor Philip Massaro recently decided to follow in Selous' footsteps and craft his own African adventure.
