Few ducks are as beautiful in plumage and flight as the wood duck. Though sparsely encountered by hunters after the first cold snap, there's another way to enjoy this particular bird—by building wood duck boxes. Through perfecting its assembly, you can observe, appreciate and give back to arguably North America’s most beautiful bird.
California Waterfowl board member and long-time volunteer Jay Goble shot this tremendous video of wood ducklings (or is it wood duck ducklings?) plopping from their nest for the first time. I don't normally use the word "cute," but friends, this is one cute video.
