More news out of Pennsylvania. Hanna Harris, 16, of Northumberland County recently busted what will undoubtedly be one of the top five non-typical bucks ever taken in the Keystone State. While I haven’t been in direct contact with Hanna or her father, NRA life member Joe Harris, I’ve been told by Pennsylvania-bred bird blogger Kyle Wintersteen that this young hunter was in the stand by herself when this giant served up his backstraps for the Harris table. We’ll have more details and comments from the family in days to come. For now, Joe reports that the buck was green scored at 210 3/8. I figured you guys would want to see this slammer as soon as possible. Update (posted 12/11/10): I just got to read Hanna's first person account of her hunt. What a whopper of a tale she has to tell her children some day. The full story will run in an upcoming edition of American Hunter magazine. She writes: I turned 16, two weeks before the first day of buck and I knew this year I wanted to hunt alone since I'm now of legal age. I have shot two whitetail buck, a red stag and 8 turkeys before this, but I always had my dad there to keep me calm and remind me about the little things, like taking the safety off and to aim behind the front shoulder. This year I was going to have to remember everything on my own. The rest of the story is an unbelievable as you'd think. Keep checking back for more.
