Minnesota artist Jim Hautman has won the 2010 Federal Duck Stamp contest for a beautiful acrylic painting of a pair of white-fronted (specklebelly) geese. It is Hautman's fourth winning duck stamp, having won previously in 1989, 1994 and 1998. Incredibly, a painting submitted by Hautman's brother, Robert, was tied for first place until a tie-breaker vote was held. Robert is a two-time contest winner. Results of the contest were announced Sunday at the David Brower Center in Berkeley, Calif., during the annual competition hosted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Waterfowlers will carry Hautman's winning stamp during the 2011-2012 season. 1st place
