Check Your Grip!

Relaxing your bow grip can aid your accuracy.

Earlier this week, I mentioned how floating the sight pin can actually aid accuracy. Here’s another tip I was just discussing with a new bowshooter in NRA Publications. It has to do with paying close attention to how you are gripping your bow as gripping it too tightly is one of the surest ways to hurt accuracy.

It is amazing how little pressure it takes to hold our bows. Gripping a bow tightly causes us to turn or twist it, creating torque. This also can cause the string to move closer to our wrist as we release our arrow, which causes us to hit the inside of the gripping-hand arm with the bowstring.
