NYC to Kill Nuisance Geese, Feed to Needy in Pa.

New York City has annually culled a portion of its nuisance goose population ever since the birds famously brought down U.S. Airways Flight 1549. I have no problem with goose control, but it did seem a tad wasteful to kill the birds and dump them into a landfill. Fortunately this year the geese will feed needy people in Pennsylvania, thanks to a decision by NYC's Department of Environmental Protection. A common-sense decision rendered by NYC government--imagine that!

NBC's NYC affiliate has a good video report below. I just wish it had more footage of the wacky "goose rights" protesters. Watch for them at the 25-second mark. They sure seem passionate for a bunch of urban invertebrates who've surely never donated to waterfowl conservation.
