Almost Time to Hunt the Thunder Chicken

In many states, turkey season openers are just around the corner. Virginia residents who haven't taken a hunters ed course can now do so with an easy-to-use online course.

In many states, turkey season openers are just around the corner. My state, Virginia, opens its season on April 12. If you're new to hunting and looking to join in the fun, now's the time to take your hunter education course, and the good news is you can probably do it online. For example, Virginia residents 18 years or older can take the new Hunter Ed Course, Virginia Full Online Hunters Safety Course, and be ready to go on opening day.

Many other regional online hunters ed courses have been popping up, but what sets this particular course apart is it can be completed without a field day requirement. Visit HunterEdCourse.com for more information.

But since I received my certification a couple of years ago, I'm set. That's a good thing, because I've been invited to join some fabulous women in Cadiz, Ky., on April 12 on a hunt sponsored by Bass Pro Shops and the National Wild Turkey Federation (more to come). Then in May I'll be hunting in New England with my turkey hunting mentor, so stay tuned!
