Saturday is National Hunting and Fishing Day

This Saturday, September 28, is National Hunting and Fishing Day. To celebrate, Assistant Online Editor Sarah Smith Barnum will attend the Barry Camp Wild Game Culinary Adventure, where proceeds benefit the Barry Conservation Camp in Milan, N.H.

This Saturday, September 28, is National Hunting and Fishing Day. Sadly I will not be hunting or fishing, but I will be honoring the day by attending the Barry Camp Wild Game Culinary Adventure at the Barry Conservation Camp in Milan, N.H. The proceeds for the event benefit the Barry Camp Fund providing operation and maintenance funds for the future of camp. The Barry Conservation Camp provides youth programs that promote the shooting sports, getting kids outdoors and more.

At the Wild Game Culinary Adventure I'm going to receive hands-on instruction on how to dress wild game, cut meat, plan game menus and prepare wild game for cooking. I could not be more excited! I'll also get the opportunity to skin my first squirrel. My wild-game culinary knowledge is extremely limited to the few things I did with my venison meat last year, so this is a great opportunity and you can expect updates from the event from me. I'll attempt to keep my "I'm totally grossed out" faces to a minimum.

What will you do to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day?
